No, We’re Not Selling ScratchBack
Monday
Dec 22, 2008
The rumors have been going around that ScratchBack was going to be sold. To be honest, we considered it. However, we’re having way too much fun with it to let it go just yet.
So, to all of you loyal ScratchBack’rs out there… thank you! We’re going to keep it going on our own and see where we can take it. Hopefully… out of beta eventually.
Happy Holidays… And remember, just because you don’t see updates here all the time doesn’t mean nothing is going down.
Our Blog Is Quiet… Why?
Sunday
Nov 9, 2008
Because there’s not much to say.
We don’t post “just to post”. Right now, the state of Scratchback, is the same as it was last month, and the month before.
We keep signing up hundreds of new widget owners every week, and we continue to pay out a lot of tip money to those owners every single month.
So all is well. We’re still here…

Seth Godin on Tip Jars “Say Thanks”
Friday
Aug 22, 2008
Seth’s post isn’t really about tip jars, but you get the point in terms of tipping?
If you like what you’re reading, click an ad to say thanks.
Pretty simple, but not an accepted online protocol, at least not yet.
If every time you read a blog post or bit of online content you enjoyed you clicked on an ad to say thanks, the economics of the web would change immediately. You don’t have to buy anything (though it’s fine if you do). You just have to honor the writer by giving them a click.
You still get what you pay for, even if you pay with attention.
Yep, it’s pretty simple, and you’re right Seth, people want to give back, especially on blogs. That’s why Scratchback works and has thousands of people using it and more every day.
Quick Fix: Expired Listings
Monday
Aug 18, 2008
We just fixed a little bug in the “cron jobs”. What that means is that you know how some people set their widgets to be 24 hours or 30-days? Well, there was a bug in the system that wasn’t clearing the tips when they were supposed to expire. So what happened was that a lot of tippers got a ton of extra exposure.
Ahh, beta. The good news is that it’s fixed, rewritten and working perfectly. For example, you can get a $10 tip and placement over at the Revenue Today blog for 30-days! Pretty amazing deal for the traffic and reach they have. Check it out.
Using ScratchBack For Charity
Wednesday
Aug 6, 2008
Over at KarenSugarPants.com, Karen is doing something really neat with her ScratchBack widget. She’s donating all the tips she gets to a good cause.
Last month I made $45.66 through BlogHer ads and immediately turned it over to Lisa. I so desperately wanted it to be more.
When I saw this program over at ScratchBack, I knew I could create another way to help Lisa.
But this time I can offer you something back. A link on my sidebar. See over there where it says “Get In My
PantsTop Spots?”For $10, payable through Paypal, you can have a link from this site to yours for as long as there’s a spot available. So the first 20 people get on the list, and if #21 comes along, you get bumped but can pay again to get back on the team. Every dollar I receive from ScratchBack will be donated to Lisa and her family.
I sure would like to see Lisa’s family have a full team roster over there in my sidebar. Want to join the team?
(Also, if you want to do the same thing on your blog, by all means! The more the merrier!)
Pretty awesome way of helping someone. I just tipped her, will you!????

The State of ScratchBack
Sunday
Jul 6, 2008
It’s Summer. July 2008 to be exact and we’re still in full swing of our beta launch. Yep, it’s still going. We figured we should give you a heads up on what we’re doing over here, so here goes.
We’re mostly working on the new changes out of beta. Well, we’re working on planning those changes and getting ready for development that is. We want to get it all done right the first time before go back into the programming stage.
When will it be done? Not sure, but it will get done eventually. Again, we have to do it slow and right. We’re not a million-dollar empire that can waste money away. We’re a start up!
So other than that, we can tell you that every month we are growing in terms of more tips and more users. It’s been a might growth that’s for sure. The other day we reached over 4,000 publishers in our system. Ok, sure, not a ton, but a great amount for a beta product tha did no advertising eh?
Feel free to leave your comments below and have a great summer, and don’t forget to set your tips high!
Four New Fun ScratchBack Widget Designs To Choose From
Wednesday
Jun 4, 2008
We’ve just released four brand-spanking-new widget designs. These are from our “let’s have some fun and be silly” line of widget designs. You can see them in action below, or switch up a current widget you are already running by logging in to your account and going to your widget manager and updating your widget settings.
Note: You DO NOT have to update your code to use a new widget design. Just keep clicking next until you see the code again and your new design will be live!
Click image to see them in full size!
So, what do you think? Should we get even more crazy with these? What kind of widgets would you like to see?
(Yes, we know you want smaller sizes and those will be coming soon enough).
ScratchBack Review: QuickStopEntertainment
Tuesday
May 20, 2008
Great review of us over at QuickStopEntertainment.
If you’re a blogger or web site owner looking for a new way to involve your readers in supporting your work, I highly recommend checking this widget out. In my professional life, I see tons of new ideas come and go, and it’s rare that I see one like this that really pops out. And it further proves that there’s always a better mousetrap!
Thanks so much!
